ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Shrruti Ratnakar is an accomplished Bharatanatyam performer rooted in the Tanjavur tradition, currently residing in Bengaluru. Her journey in this classical Indian dance began at the age of 5 under the guidance of her parents, Pt. Guru Venugopal Pillai and Guru Smt. Jayshree Pillai, and she completed her Arangetram at the age of 21.

Beyond her traditional Bharatanatyam training, Shrruti expanded her horizons by learning Contemporary dance in Austria under the tutelage of the renowned teacher Eva Muller. In addition, she had the privilege of studying Carnatic music for five years with Guru Lakshmi Parthasarathy.

Shrruti's dedication to preserving and propagating the rich cultural heritage passed down by her parents is evident through her commitment to teaching Bharatanatyam alongside her sister, Dhwaani. Their goal is to impart this art form to students of all ages, fostering awareness and appreciation. Furthermore, Shrruti and Dhwaani are actively engaged in researching ways to contemporize training sessions and foster interactions with other dance and music forms, ensuring that the tradition thrives in a modern context.
