Bharatanatyam, an esteemed Indian classical dance form, is believed to be India's oldest classical dance tradition and is considered the progenitor of numerous other classical dance forms. Its theoretical foundation can be traced back to the 'Natya Shastra,' an ancient Sanskrit Hindu text on performing arts
The 'Abhinaya Darpana' by Nandikesvara serves as a primary textual source for studying the technique and grammar of body movements in Bharatanatyam dance.
